The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Monthan.
Ishikawa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Monthan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ishikawa as he jumps to the side.
Ishikawa throws a sloppy head kick and Monthan moves out of range easily.
Monthan avoids the head kick by Ishikawa.
A head kick misses from Ishikawa.
Ishikawa tries a head kick but it misses.
Ishikawa looks gassed!
Ishikawa throws a lazy head kick

and Monthan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Monthan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Monthan gets to his feet - Ishikawa follows without any prompting.
Monthan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ishikawa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Monthan somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Monthan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Monthan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Monthan closes the distance and clinches up with Ishikawa, looking for a takedown. Monthan pushes Ishikawa against the cage but Ishikawa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
