Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Kurek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eddie Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michal Kurek!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurek shoots in for a takedown but Alvarez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Michal Kurek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alvarez tries to avoid it but Kurek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alvarez to the ground. Alvarez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alvarez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Alvarez wants it to stay on the feet.
Eddie Alvarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Kurek.
Alvarez lands with a nice body kick.

Both fighters circling a little - Alvarez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

A nice inside leg kick there by Alvarez. That's going to slow Kurek down.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Alvarez lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Kurek.

Alvarez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kurek uses from the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Kurek decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Alvarez, up you get!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Good leg kick by Alvarez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Alvarez counters with a good low kick that Kurek was not able to check.

Alvarez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kurek is trying to keep an underhook but Alvarez manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Alvarez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kurek with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alvarez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kurek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.
Alvarez fakes the leg kick and cracks Kurek in the body.
Kurek tries to clinch up but Alvarez circles away and keeps his distance.
Alvarez lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kurek has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Alvarez.

Alvarez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Alvarez thuds his shin into the meat of Kurek's side.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kurek is breathing heavily.
Alvarez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kurek after a bit of a struggle.

Kurek sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alvarez's guard.

Alvarez is looking for a sweep. Kurek is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kurek looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alvarez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Horrible takedown by Alvarez or perhaps it was just good defense by Kurek which made him look bad.

Kurek stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Alvarez fakes the leg kick and cracks Kurek in the body.
Alvarez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kurek's calf.
Kurek shoots for a double leg takedown but Alvarez sprawls well. He's pushed Kurek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kurek closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alvarez circles away.
Kurek has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Alvarez.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Alvarez. Kurek shrugs it off though.
Kurek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Alvarez. Alvarez obviously looking to wear him down.
Kurek has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Alvarez.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alvarez dives in and grabs Kurek's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kurek pushes down on Alvarez's head and hops out.
Michal Kurek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Alvarez has closed the distance and engaged Kurek in a clinch.

Kurek is fighting off a takedown attempt but Alvarez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kurek to the mat. Kurek regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Alvarez postures up in Kurek's guard and throws a big left but Kurek blocks it.
Eddie Alvarez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kurek is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Alvarez rolls with it to try and escape but Kurek cranks on the arm and Alvarez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
