Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Oliveira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Cunha! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oliveira throws a series of punches but Cunha avoids them all with ease. Oliveira takes the fight into the clinch. Oliveira is looking for a takedown. Oliveira is trying to pull guard but Cunha has him pressed against the cage. Cunha jumps into guard, dragging Oliveira to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Cunha wants to sweep here but Oliveira controlling him for the moment. Oliveira trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cunha seems keen to control Oliveira's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Oliveira postures up.
Cunha pulls Oliveira in close to prevent any damage. Oliveira has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fernando Cunha. Oliveira circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliveira loads up on a big right hand but Cunha slips the punch. Cunha has a takedown stuffed. Oliveira swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oliveira misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Oliveira. That's going to take a lot out of him. Oliveira is breathing heavily. Oliveira throws a head kick but Cunha moves out of range.
Oliveira is looking to clinch. Oliveira tries for a takedown but Cunha sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Oliveira circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cunha shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cunha with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Cunha's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cunha stands up from guard. Let's bang! Cunha clinches up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cunha gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Oliveira looking to control.
Cunha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cunha makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Oliveira throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Cunha trying to stand up but can't free himself from Oliveira's guard. Cunha controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fernando Cunha. Cunha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Oliveira manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Cunha forces his way into half guard. Oliveira has hold of Cunha's hands but Cunha slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Cunha performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cunha is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ground and pound from Cunha. Cunha looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Cunha takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fernando Cunha dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Cunha looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Cunha not doing much here.
Cunha stands up out of the half guard. Cunha shoots in but Oliveira avoids the takedown attempt easily. Oliveira shoots in for a takedown but Cunha shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cunha darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Oliveira is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cunha winds up and cracks Oliveira with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cunha wants to pass to mount but Oliveira is defending the position. Cunha not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cunha scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Cunha moves into full mount! Cunha controlling from mount. Cunha has isolated one of Oliveira's arms. Oliveira looking to fight him off but Cunha twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
