Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Anderson! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Costa. Costa shoots in and drives through. Anderson sprawls well. Anderson clinches up with Costa and pushes him back against the cage. Anderson is trying to trip Costa. He has hold of a leg but Costa is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Anderson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Anderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Costa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Costa punching from mount but Anderson doing a good job of avoiding damage. Costa working for a submission but Anderson is keeping him at bay. Costa throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Anderson because Costa loaded up on that one. Anderson wants to control but Costa is having none of it. Costa is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Anderson is in real trouble.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Costa throwing wild punches that miss their target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Costa's hands. Anderson covering up well and avoiding damage. Costa has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Anderson preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Costa. Costa is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Anderson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Anderson trying to control but not successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Costa is hanging on to Anderson's back as he tries to escape.
Costa looking for the RNC. You can see the frustration on Anderson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Costa working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anderson trying to control the position but Costa manages to sink in the hooks. Costa is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa working for the choke. Anderson is trying to get back to his feet but Costa has full control of the position and if anything, Anderson has just worked his way into a worse spot. Costa not allowing Anderson to control his hands. Anderson looking very determined here, making life difficult for Costa.
Anderson has hold of Costa's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts. Anderson showing good submission defense here.
Costa is persistently looking for the submission but Anderson is defending it well.
Anderson staying busy and making it hard for Costa to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Costa. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Costa has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Anderson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Costa gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ryan Costa!
