PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gundar Thorsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Kramer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thorsen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gundar Thorsen Theme Song- White Superman. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gundar Thorsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Kramer!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kramer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Kramer looking to score a takedown here. Thorsen is defending well but Kramer drives through and ends up in Thorsen's guard.
Kramer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thorsen is keeping the position for now.
Kramer chips away with some ground and pound.
Kramer throwing strikes from guard but Thorsen blocks nicely.
Thorsen looking for a sweep. Not yet Thorsen, not yet.

Kramer won't allow Thorsen to get back to his feet.

Kramer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thorsen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thorsen has Kramer pulled in close to control his posture.

We're going to have a standup here because Gundar Thorsen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Thorsen scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like John Kramer has been cut.

Kramer gets a clinch.
Kramer keeps control of Thorsen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kramer jumps guard but Thorsen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Thorsen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kramer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gundar Thorsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kramer.
Kramer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thorsen walks away with a smile on his face. Kramer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A swing and a miss from Thorsen.
Kramer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thorsen circles away quickly and effectively.

Kramer darts in and clinches Thorsen up against the cage.
Thorsen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Stalling in the clinch from Thorsen.
Thorsen scores with a knee to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thorsen wants to get back to striking at distance but Kramer won't allow it.

Kramer pulls guard successfully.
Kramer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Thorsen won't allow Kramer to sweep him here.
Thorsen throws a big right hand that misses.
Thorsen wants to get up but he can't break Kramer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Thorsen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kramer managing to control the position.
Thorsen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kramer has a closed guard, preventing Thorsen from standing up.
Kramer looking for a sweep. Not yet Kramer, not yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thorsen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Thorsen is looking to work some ground and pound but Kramer has wrist control.
Kramer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Thorsen wants to stand but Kramer is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kramer wriggles free and stands up.
Thorsen jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Thorsen dips to his left and cracks Kramer with an uppercut!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kramer throws a sloppy head kick and Thorsen moves out of range easily.
Thorsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thorsen wants it to stay on the feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Thorsen tests Kramer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kramer takes one to the side of the head.


That has opened up John Kramer's cut even more.

Thorsen lands a big uppercut and Kramer crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Kramer looks OK. Thorsen waves Kramer back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gundar Thorsen dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Kramer's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A head kick misses from Thorsen.
Kramer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thorsen as he jumps to the side.
Thorsen misses with a straight right.
Thorsen fails to land with a series of punches.
Thorsen lands a glancing blow to the side of Kramer's head.
Kramer throws a series of punches but Thorsen moves out of range.

Kramer drives through and clinches with Thorsen against the cage.

Thorsen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kramer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thorsen but Thorsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thorsen misses with an uppercut

and Kramer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kramer is looking to work some ground and pound but Thorsen has wrist control.
Thorsen keeping moving, preventing Kramer from controlling successfully.

Thorsen wants to stand up but Kramer is controlling him.
Thorsen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kramer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thorsen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Thorsen lands an upkick as Kramer stands over him.

Thorsen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kramer tries to free his leg and advance position but Thorsen is retaining full guard.
Kramer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kramer shoots in and bounces Thorsen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kramer wants to control from the top but Thorsen keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kramer passes Thorsen's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kramer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Kramer thows a huge punch but Thorsen dodges it nicely.
Kramer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Thorsen!
Thorsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kramer on the ground.
Thorsen avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kramer.
Thorsen tries to lock up and control but Kramer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kramer working for a guillotine from mount but Thorsen is in no mood to give up.
Kramer lands a big shot there that rocks Thorsen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Thorsen regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kramer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Thorsen is rocked!
Kramer winds up and cracks Thorsen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Oh Thorsen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kramer lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Thorsen! More strikes land and this one is all over! Kramer jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Kramer!
