Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Couture comes into the arena with Thickfreakness - The Black Keys blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Couture misses.
Payne tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Couture paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Payne looks to land a body kick but Couture moved away.
Couture throws a jab but it's blocked by Payne.
Payne pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A head kick misses from Payne.
Payne wants to clinch up but Couture keeps it at a distance.
Payne has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Couture misses with a wild body shot.
Couture looks to land a left hand but Payne moved out of range nicely.
Payne slips a jab from Couture.
Payne is looking to clinch but Couture is avoiding it.
Payne walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Couture lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Payne backs up against the cage.
Couture walks into a stiff left hand from Payne.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Couture missing with a left hand there. Payne was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Payne lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Couture avoids the head kick by Payne.

Payne moves into range and clinches up with Couture.

Couture has had enough of the clinch but Payne keeps him there for the moment.

Payne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Couture swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Couture takes a swing at Payne's ribcage but misses.
Payne closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Couture is breathing heavily.
Couture displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Payne throws out the jab.
Payne tries to close the distance and clinch but Couture swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Couture takes a head kick and keeps coming.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Couture scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Payne doesn't seem bothered though.

Oooooh!!! Payne has knocked Couture down with a huge combo! Payne steps away and waves a wobbly Couture back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Couture is rocked!

It looks like Rodney Couture has been cut.
Couture connects with a nice looking jab.
Oh Couture is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Couture misses with an uppercut. Payne saw that one coming.
Couture avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Couture seems to have got his legs back now.

Payne drops Couture with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Couture looks back up at him and smiles so Payne waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Couture throws a hook but Payne avoids it easily.
Couture misses with a hook.
Payne dances in with a quick combination. Couture is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Payne snaps Couture's head back. Couture stumbles backwards against the cage. Payne steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Couture's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Couture just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Oscar Payne!
A relieved looking Oscar Payne thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
