Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Al Fassak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Al Fassak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Chan!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fassak closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fassak tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Fassak tries to land a knee to the head but Chan blocks with his arms.
Fassak with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Fassak using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Chan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Fassak pulls guard effortlessly.

Chan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Fassak dives on top into guard.

Fassak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Chan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fassak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fassak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fassak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fassak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chan is trying to defend but Fassak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Chan wants to sweep but no luck.

Fassak wants to work for an arm triangle but Chan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fassak is keen to just control but Chan is a slippery customer.

Chan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fassak wants to pass the guard but Chan is keeping the position.
Chan controls Fassak momentarily but Fassak frees himself.

Chan is breathing heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeff Chan.

Fassak shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fassak showed some decent athleticism there.

Fassak is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chan defends it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fassak shoots in and drives through. Chan sprawls well.
Fassak wants to clinch.
Fassak doesn't manage to clinch there - Chan circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fassak tries to close the distance and clinch but Chan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fassak shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Chan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fassak is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fassak has escaped and now he's on top!

Chan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Al Fassak is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Fassak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well Fassak has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
