Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawkins sprawls well. He's pushed Sonnen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sonnen misses with a takedown attempt - Hawkins sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hawkins thuds a left hand into Sonnen's body.
Sonnen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hawkins slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hawkins grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Sonnen takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Hawkins cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dave Hawkins!
