Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Nikolaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eashy Eash! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nikolaev misses with a wild combination.
Nice takedown defense from Eash. No joy for Nikolaev on that attempt. Nikolaev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sloppy strikes from Nikolaev. Those never looked like landing. Eash scores with a takedown into Nikolaev's guard. Nikolaev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Eash manages to get himself to full guard.
Nikolaev lands a couple of digs. Nikolaev postures up and lands a big shot to Eash's brow. Eash looking to control but Nikolaev passes into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nikolaev in particular looking to stall. Eash looks gassed! Nikolaev is looking to take a break and control but Eash is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nikolaev working over Eash with some ground and pound. Eash looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Nikolaev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Nikolaev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nikolaev wants to control but Eash is keeping him busy. Eash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nikolaev is defended easily by Eash. Eash fails with a takedown attempt. Eash fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Eash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vladimir Nikolaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eashy Eash. Nikolaev instigates a clinch. Eash tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Eash is breathing heavily. Nikolaev fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Eash has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Eash tries a knee to the head but Nikolaev blocks it.

Nikolaev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Nikolaev passes into half guard. Nikolaev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Nikolaev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Nikolaev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eash keeps working. Eash has hold of Nikolaev's hands but Nikolaev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nikolaev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eash taking some punishment here, with Nikolaev in his half guard. Nikolaev wants to take a breather but Eash is having none of it. Nikolaev working over Eash with some ground and pound. Eash looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Nikolaev tries to pass to full mount but Eash defends it. Eash on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Nikolaev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nikolaev winds up and cracks Eash with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Nikolaev is nestled in close to Eash, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Nikolaev wants to work for an arm triangle but Eash is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eash looking for submissions off his back. Eash takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Nikolaev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Eash with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nikolaev is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Eash to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Eash shrugs it off. Nikolaev breaks from Eash's wrist control and lands an elbow. Nikolaev lands a big elbow. Nikolaev controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nikolaev fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Nikolaev with good strikes from the mount here! Nikolaev is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Eash is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Eash flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Nikolaev anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Eash and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Nikolaev slips an arm under Eash chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Nikolaev has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Nikolaev is squeezing on Eash like an anaconda would it's prey. Eash fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
