PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Harry Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mega Boes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mega Boes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harry Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mega Boes!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
Boes stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harry Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boes looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Boes wanted to stand there but Johnson had control of the position.
Johnson is trying to control the position but Boes postures up.
Boes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Boes is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Boes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
Boes wanted to stand there but Johnson had control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boes's guard.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Boes keeps moving.
Boes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Boes wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.

Boes is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt

and Boes counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard.
Boes wanted to stand there but Johnson had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mega Boes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mega Boes dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Boes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Boes showed some decent athleticism there.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Boes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boes tries to stand but can't do so whilst Johnson controls his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Boes is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Johnson is trying to stand back up but Boes is controlling him

Mega Boes has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Boes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boes tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boes tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Johnson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Johnson tries to get to full guard but Boes has control of the leg.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mega Boes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Boes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Boes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson controls Boes momentarily but Boes frees himself.

Harry Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Boes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mega Boes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mega Boes was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Johnson fails with the takedown.

Boes shoots in and bounces Johnson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boes wants to stand but Johnson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Boes gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.

Boes dives in and scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Boes wants to stand and escape but instead Johnson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Boes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Johnson is in close to Boes's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mega Boes has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Boes manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mega Boes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Boes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
