Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mijo Jagatic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Maybe! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jagatic tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Maybe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Maybe misses with a takedown attempt - Jagatic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Maybe has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Jagatic doesn't manage to clinch there - Maybe circles away.
Jagatic throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Maybe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jagatic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Maybe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Jagatic looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jagatic is trying to control the position but Maybe postures up. Jagatic can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Maybe controls the pace. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jagatic wants to sweep here but Maybe controlling him for the moment. Maybe tries to free his leg and advance position but Jagatic is retaining full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jagatic fails with a takedown attempt. A nice combination there by Jagatic.
Frank Maybe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maybe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jagatic stops Maybe from passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maybe just content to control the position. Jagatic wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Maybe is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jagatic will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maybe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frank Maybe. Maybe shoots in and gets a takedown into Jagatic's guard. Jagatic throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Maybe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jagatic circles away. Jagatic shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Maybe shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jagatic napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Jagatic tries to control but Maybe manages to take his back. Jagatic trying to control the action but Maybe just sinks the hooks in. Maybe controlling the position well here. Jagatic rolled but Maybe kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jagatic tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maybe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jagatic somewhat. Maybe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jagatic was covering up waiting for the punch and Maybe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Jagatic throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maybe escapes and throws Jagatic's legs to the side, diving into side control! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jagatic struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Jagatic's face as Maybe controls the position. Jagatic stops Maybe from passing to mount. Maybe just content to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jagatic prevents Maybe from improving position.
Frank Maybe has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jagatic slaps away a takedown attempt from Maybe, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jagatic really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Maybe gets a double leg takedown into Jagatic's guard. Jagatic is looking to sweep but instead, Maybe has passed into half guard.

Jagatic shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maybe defends it nicely. Maybe drives through with a takedown into Jagatic's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Maybe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Jagatic is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Maybe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Maybe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jagatic as he jumps to the side. Jagatic shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maybe but Maybe pushes him off and we're back to square one. Maybe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jagatic tries to avoid it but Maybe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jagatic to the ground. Jagatic escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Maybe avoids the head kick by Jagatic.
Maybe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Maybe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jagatic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Maybe engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Jagatic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Jagatic is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Mijo Jagatic wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maybe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jagatic to the ground. Maybe is now in Jagatic's guard. Maybe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Maybe hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Maybe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Frank Maybe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jagatic is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maybe wants to pass to mount but Jagatic is defending the position. Maybe moves into full mount! Jagatic won't be happy about that! Jagatic working to try and regain half guard.
