PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gk King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is ACDC- Thunderstruck. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Gk King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andy Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Wilkins.
King tries for a takedown but Wilkins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
King tries to work over Wilkins's front leg with a kick but Wilkins checks it.
King looks to score with a jab to the body but Wilkins is just out of range.
King lands with a thumping leg kick.
Wilkins scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wilkins.
Wilkins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but King moves away.
King tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

King tried to score with a low kick but Wilkins checks it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wilkins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
King on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

King swings for the body but Wilkins moves out of range.

Wilkins feints and as King raises his hands in defense, Wilkins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wilkins drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and King dives on top into guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wilkins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wilkins cracks King with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King moves forwards but Wilkins connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Wilkins lands with a straight right. King didn't see that one coming.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
King lands a leg kick that knocks Wilkins off balance momentarily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Wilkins dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

King scores with a sloppy right hand. Wilkins should have avoided that one.
Some bone on bone action there as Wilkins checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wilkins takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Wilkins connects with a good right hand that stumbles King. King circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

King throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Wilkins checks the leg kick nicely there.
King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilkins manages to avoid it.
King wants to slow Wilkins down by chopping away at his legs.

Wilkins scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Andy Wilkins seems to be getting the better of the standup.

King throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilkins on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andy Wilkins hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well Wilkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
