PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Viking Berserker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maku Amir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Viking Berserker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maku Amir!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Amir tries to keep at a distance but Berserker has taken the fight into the clinch.
Amir managing to block the knees to the body from Berserker.
Amir is trying to stall.
Amir misses with a punch to the body.
Berserker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Berserker just leaning against Amir, taking a breather.
Amir drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Berserker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Amir wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Berserker manages to pass to side control.

Amir pushes off an throws an elbow but Berserker leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Amir tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Berserker's elbow.
Berserker manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Amir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Berserker gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Amir is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Berserker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Amir wants to break the clinch but can't.
Amir tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Viking Berserker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Amir is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Berserker stuffs the takedown attempt from Amir. Amir gets slowly back to his feet.
Berserker doesn't manage to clinch there - Amir circles away.

Amir misses with a short punch on the inside.

Berserker misses with a hook to the ribs.
Berserker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Amir gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Berserker has Amir pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Amir manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Amir is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berserker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Amir is working away from the top position though.

Berserker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Berserker tries to get out of the position.
Amir is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berserker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Berserker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Amir wants to advance to full mount but Berserker doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Amir is looking to stand up but Berserker won't let him.

Maku Amir has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Berserker fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maku Amir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Berserker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Berserker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Amir is on top in guard.

Berserker wants to sweep but no luck.

Viking Berserker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Amir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Maku Amir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Amir has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
