PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Havy Havasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Goldberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Havasi comes to the cage accompanied by One Day. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Goldberg!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Havasi throws a head kick that half lands.

Havasi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Goldberg was covering up waiting for the punch and Havasi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Goldberg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Havasi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Havasi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goldberg on the ground.
Goldberg wants to sweep but no luck.
Goldberg is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Havasi wants to get up but he can't break Goldberg's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Goldberg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Havasi defends it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Goldberg pulls Havasi in to control the position.
Goldberg tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Goldberg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Havasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Havasi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Havasi throwing strikes but missing.
Goldberg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Havasi's guard.
Goldberg works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Goldberg in particular looking to stall.
Havasi looks like he's trying to stand up.
Goldberg is taking a breather. Havasi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mike Goldberg wasn't active enough on the ground.

Goldberg fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Havasi to the ground. Goldberg is now in Havasi's guard.

Goldberg is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Havasi defends it well.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Havasi misses with an attempted mid kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goldberg shoots in for a double leg but Havasi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Goldberg fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Havasi sprawls well initially but Goldberg persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Goldberg has his foot on Havasi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Havasi works his way back into a safe position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Goldberg cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Goldberg tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Mike Goldberg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Havasi doesn't manage to clinch there - Goldberg circles away.
Goldberg looks for a takedown but Havasi sprawls well.

Havasi feints and as Goldberg raises his hands in defense, Havasi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Goldberg hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Havasi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Havasi wants it to stay on the feet.
Mike Goldberg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Horrible takedown by Goldberg or perhaps it was just good defense by Havasi which made him look bad.
Havy Havasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Goldberg.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Goldberg tries to score a power double leg takedown but Havasi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goldberg somewhat.

Havasi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Havasi showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Goldberg manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Havasi wants to control from the top but Goldberg keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Mike Goldberg.
