Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Muay Thai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keith Young! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Young shoots in looking for a takedown. Thai tries to sprawl out of it but Young keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Thai wants to clinch up but Young keeps it at a distance. Young drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Young drops back looking for a leg! Thai is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thai manages to kick Young off! Young jumps back into Thai's guard. Thai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Young on the ground. Thai is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Thai is retaining full guard. Thai wants to get back to his feet but Young is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Young connects with a couple of short punches. Young wants to pass the guard but Thai is keeping the position. Thai really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Young trying to control the position from guard on top but Thai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Young advances to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young sitting and controlling from the half guard. Young is trying to control the action in half guard but Thai is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Thai is trying to stand up here but Young is controlling him well. Young trying to pass the guard but Thai defending well. Thai is trying to stand back up but Young is controlling him
Young throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Young is looking to take a break and control but Thai is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Young prevents Thai from standing back up.
Young working Thai over with strikes. Thai is in trouble now - Young has advanced to mount! Young scoring with strikes but Thai is staying in there. Young thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Thai is trying to stand up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young wants to finish this one by submission but Thai is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Young. Young has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Young raining down shots from the mount! Young takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Young lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Thai hang on? Young connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
