Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rami Kottari! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luis Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kottari drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gonzalez wants to get back to his feet. Gonzalez being controlled for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzalez is not content to let Kottari control the position. Gonzalez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kottari has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kottari controls the position from side control. Kottari lands some shots froms side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kottari just content to control the position. Kottari prevents Gonzalez from escaping the position. Kottari is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gonzalez is pushing Kottari's head away, looking to escape. Kottari manages to hold on to the position though. Kottari scores with punches from side control. Kottari working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kottari trying to control the action but Gonzalez is working from the bottom. Kottari scores with punches from side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kottari is working Gonzalez over with some ground and pound from side control. Kottari scoring with punches and elbows. Kottari working the ground and pound. Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kottari. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kottari landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kottari advances to mount. Kottari looking to control but Gonzalez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kottari landing strikes from the mount and Gonzalez is in trouble! Kottari fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Gonzalez is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kottari unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Gonzalez wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Kottari celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
