Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Smalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barney Smalls has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyson Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barney Smalls!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smalls looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Johnson.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Smalls sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Smalls changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Smalls is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Smalls wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson, who protects the arm well.
Smalls fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The ground and pound from Smalls seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Smalls creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Johnson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is looking to control Smalls's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted?
Smalls thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Smalls is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Smalls eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smalls with the ground and pound but Johnson uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smalls tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smalls to the ground. Smalls escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smalls shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smalls is pulling down on Johnson's head to control his posture.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smalls looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smalls tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Smalls working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barney Smalls showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Johnson leaves Smalls with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck for Smalls with that takedown attempt.
Smalls closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
Tyson Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Smalls.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson is posturing up here but Smalls has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Johnson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Johnson has to tap! Slick submission there by Smalls!
