Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyrone Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karlos Mendieta! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel tries a head kick but it misses.
Steel looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Mendieta rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steel moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mendieta tries to close the distance and clinch but Steel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mendieta tries to clinch up. Steel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mendieta swivels and escapes. Mendieta tries to clinch but Steel is having none of it. Mendieta closes the distance and clinches up with Steel, looking for a takedown. Mendieta pushes Steel against the cage but Steel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mendieta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mendieta decides to take the fight back to the feet. Mendieta fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steel to the ground. Mendieta is now in Steel's guard. Mendieta decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Steel, up you get! This has been an exciting period of action! Mendieta fails in his attempt to clinch. Steel circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mendieta tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mendieta is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mendieta wants to clinch but Steel slips to the side and Steel moves into the clinch. Steel is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mendieta is defending well for now.

Steel is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mendieta is keeping busy. Mendieta is trying to push Steel away but Steel has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Steel tries to land a knee to the head but Mendieta blocks with his arms.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mendieta stands up and beckons Steel to his feet. Mendieta moves into the clinch. Mendieta tries to circle away but Steel has him pinned against the cage. Mendieta prevents Steel from breaking the clinch. Mendieta wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendieta wants to get back to striking at distance but Steel won't allow it.

Mendieta shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Steel defends it nicely. Tyrone Steel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlos Mendieta. Mendieta looks to clinch and Steel counters with a big head kick but Mendieta shrugs it off. Mendieta tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steel swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mendieta is looking to take this fight into the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mendieta throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Steel blocks it with crossed arms. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendieta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mendieta tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steel swats him away and circles back towards the center. Steel keeps the fight on the outside. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karlos Mendieta dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Let's see what he can do from the top position. Steel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendieta is pressing down on Steel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Steel is holding on for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mendieta wants to stand up but Steel manages to regain full guard. Mendieta must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mendieta gets to his feet - Steel follows without any prompting. Steel stuffs the takedown. Mendieta tries to clinch but Steel moves out of range. Mendieta wants to clinch. Mendieta is looking to clinch but Steel is avoiding it.

Karlos Mendieta showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Steel missing with a left hand there. Mendieta was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Steel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mendieta fails with an attempt to clinch.

Steel is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Karlos Mendieta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mendieta fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Steel avoids it really well and circles away. Mendieta has managed to clinch.

Mendieta will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Steel up against the cage. Steel prevents Mendieta from breaking the clinch. That's two minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mendieta. Steel misses with a head kick.

Mendieta manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel wants to control from the top but Mendieta keeps moving. Mendieta working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Steel. Mendieta lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Steel! Mendieta is standing up, even though he is in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendieta drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendieta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mendieta has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that's the end of the fight! Karlos Mendieta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mendieta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Karlos Mendieta! A determined Karlos Mendieta didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
