PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zirry Swan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swan has chosen Blame it on my ADD as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
37 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zirry Swan! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Swan tries to avoid it but Miller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Swan to the ground. Swan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A clash of legs there as Miller blocks the low kick. Swan looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Miller shoots in and gets a takedown into Swan's guard. Swan keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. Swan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Swan has momentary wrist control but Miller slips an elbow through the middle. Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Swan has wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Swan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Miller. Miller postures up in Swan's guard and throws a big left but Swan blocks it. Miller throws a big right hand that misses. Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swan can do anything to dispel that myth. This has been an exciting period of action! Miller stays in close to Swan's body and controls the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Miller trying to control but Swan is working from the bottom. Miller lands a couple of digs. Swan keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. Miller looking to pass the guard. Miller throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Miller wants to control from the top but Swan keeps moving. Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Miller trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Miller missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Swan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Swan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Miller. Miller working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Miller stands up over Swan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Swan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Miller working some strikes from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Swan trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.

Swan on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Miller working the body and head with strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee asks Miller politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Miller prefers to stall for the moment though. Miller trying to control the action but Swan is working from the bottom. Miller throwing strikes but Swan manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller gets back to half guard. Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Miller is trying to stand back up but Swan is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Miller dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Miller on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Miller connects with a good right hand that stumbles Swan. Swan circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Miller fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Swan avoids it really well and circles away. Swan lands a nice looking body kick. Miller misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Miller tries to land a leg kick but Swan saw it coming and moves away.
Miller misses with a takedown attempt - Swan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him. Swan pushes Miller up against the cage in a clinch. A nice left hand lands by Swan.
Miller has hold of one of Swan's legs. Swan is fighting the takedown attempt but Miller gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Miller trying to control but Swan is working from the bottom. Miller postures up in Swan's guard and throws a big left but Swan blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller pushing down on Swan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Miller looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Swan is breathing heavily. Miller is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Swan is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Miller! James Miller decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
