Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nobunaga Matsamune (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nobunaga Matsamune! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsamune checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Matsamune looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Rivera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matsamune moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Matsamune shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rivera tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Matsamune has a takedown stuffed. Kenny Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nobunaga Matsamune. Matsamune misses with a takedown attempt - Rivera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Matsamune with that takedown attempt. Matsamune fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

"Ole!" shouts Rivera as he jumps to the side. Matsamune looks gassed! Matsamune tries to clinch up. Matsamune throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Matsamune shoots for a takedown but Rivera saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rivera scores a takedown into full mount! Rivera prevents Matsamune from getting the reversal. Rivera trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rivera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Matsamune is trying to escape the mount but Rivera keeps good control and instead manages to take Matsamune's back.

Matsamune tries to escape but Rivera has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Matsamune is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rivera biding his time, looking for the opening.
Rivera is trying to stick to Matsamune's back but Matsamune is turning into Rivera. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rivera's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Matsamune.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matsamune working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rivera is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Matsamune preventing the sweep. Matsamune connects with a couple of short punches. Matsamune trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rivera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsamune gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Matsamune wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rivera had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Matsamune is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rivera Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Matsamune's back instead. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rivera doesn't have the hooks in and Matsamune manages to turn into his guard.
Matsamune preventing the sweep. Matsamune sitting in guard, not really doing much. Matsamune landing with the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenny Rivera dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matsamune wants to land a leg kick but Rivera is out of range. Matsamune tries for a takedown but Rivera circles away easily and Rivera counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Rivera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rivera tries to pass to full mount but Matsamune defends it. Matsamune moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Matsamune is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsamune working a defensive guard but Rivera manages to pass into side control anyway.
Matsamune misses with an elbow from the bottom. Rivera is looking to take a break and control but Matsamune is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Matsamune is looking to reverse the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Matsamune sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Matsamune tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Matsamune gets full guard. Rivera preventing the sweep. Matsamune is looking for a triangle but Rivera pushes his legs off easily.
Matsamune is breathing heavily. Matsamune is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rivera tries to clinch up. Matsamune with a lazy takedown attempt and Rivera counters with a takedown into side control. Matsamune struggling a bit here. Kenny Rivera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Matsamune looks to move to half guard but instead Rivera has passed into mount! Damn! Matsamune tries to improve his position but Rivera has taken his back! Rivera has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Matsamune tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Rivera pushes Matsamune away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
