Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nero Cato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Penn! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cato scores with a nice strike. Cato throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Cato throws a shot to the body.
Cato moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Penn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cato throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Penn is looking to clinch. Penn misses with a takedown attempt - Cato sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Left hook, right uppercut from Cato.
Penn is rocked!
It looks like James Penn has been cut. James Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.Penn fails with a takedown attempt. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Cato scores with a nice head shot. Penn is still on wobbly legs! Can Cato finish him? Penn is looking to clinch. Cato circles away from the clinch attempt.
Penn seems to have recovered his senses. Penn tries to keep at a distance but Cato has taken the fight into the clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Cato. Penn using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Cato has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Cato prevents a takedown attempt there.
Nero Cato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Penn. Penn wants to stall.
Penn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cato pulls him back up using the underhooks. Penn looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Cato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cato tries to bum rush Penn with a series of wild strikes but Penn uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Cato misses with a series of wild punches.
Cato closes the distance and clinches. Penn drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cato feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Penn sprawling to the canvas! Penn rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Cato finish him?!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Cato escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cato lands a hook that stumbles Penn back into the cage. Cato follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Penn to the canvas! Cato pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Penn has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Nero Cato!
