Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasilij Zajtsev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Briggs!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zajtsev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Briggs circles away quickly and effectively.
Briggs shoots in looking for a takedown but Zajtsev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Briggs's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Briggs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Zajtsev shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Briggs is looking to control Zajtsev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Briggs avoid being mounted?
Zajtsev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Briggs knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Briggs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zajtsev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zajtsev's back!
Zajtsev looking very determined here, making life difficult for Briggs.

Briggs punches Zajtsev on the ear.
Zajtsev manages to reverse the position and now he's in Briggs's guard. Nice work there by Zajtsev.

Zajtsev connects with a couple of short punches.
Briggs wants to control position but Zajtsev is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Briggs here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.
