Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Quik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manny Holt! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quik connects with a solid leg kick. Quik looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Holt swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Quik. Quik throws a big shot that misses. Quik misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Holt shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Quik is trying to defend but Holt finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Quik keeps control of the position for the meantime. Quik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Holt seems to be working for a kimura but Quik defends the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quik blocking the ground and pound attempt from Holt. Holt is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Quik still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Quik has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Quik throws an elbow but Holt slips to the side and avoids it well. Quik working away. Quik is looking to take a break and control but Holt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sloppy strikes there by Quik.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holt gets back to half guard. Quik performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Holt wants to get back to full guard. Quik slips a nice elbow through Holt's hands, connecting with Holt's forehead. Holt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Quik slows the pace down in half guard. Nice strikes from Quik there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quik is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Quik has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Quik trying to mount his opponent but Holt defends it. Quik is looking to take a break and control but Holt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Holt wants to get back to full guard but Quik has mounted him! Quik lands with some strikes. Quik landing punches. Quik lands with some strikes.
It looks like Manny Holt has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Holt avoids a series of strikes thrown by Quik.
Holt is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
