Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Travis Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Rector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright comes to the cage accompanied by Jack Attack. Travis Wright has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Rector!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright shoots and misses

so Rector counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rector pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wright is keeping the position for now.
Rector content to stall in guard here.

Rector gets to his feet. Wright looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Wright throws a leg kick

and Rector counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rector.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rector showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wright can't keep his opponent in guard - Rector advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Rector slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andre Rector was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Rector tries a head kick but it misses.
Andre Rector seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rector shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rector showed some decent athleticism there.
Rector seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Let's hope that Rector has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andre Rector was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wright fails to land with a series of punches.
Wright misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wright tries to clinch but Rector moves out of range.
Wright fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Rector shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wright's guard.
Wright is breathing heavily.

Rector stands up from Wright's guard - Rector perhaps looking for a knockout.

Rector closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wright's guard.
Wright will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rector trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rector not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wright tries to clinch up.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wright.
Wright throws the kick towards the body but Rector avoids it.
Wright avoids the head kick by Rector.
Wright buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wright tries to work over Rector's front leg with a kick but Rector checks it.

Rector has closed the distance and engaged Wright in a clinch.

Rector turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rector manages to end up in side control.
You can see the frustration on Wright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A lull in the action here.

Wright wants to control but Rector postures up.
Wright tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rector wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rector in side control, just content to control the action for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rector.
Wright tries to clinch up.
Rector blocks the body kick.

Rector closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wright did well to prevent Rector getting side control.
Wright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rector is working away from the top position though.
Rector is controlling the pace.
Wright is trying to control but can't.

Rector slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rector drives through with a takedown into Wright's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wright misses with a jab, cross combination.

Andre Rector showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rector has hold of one of Wright's legs. Wright is fighting the takedown attempt but Rector gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Wright is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rector is aware though and is defending well.
Rector is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Andre Rector has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Rector has Wright up against the cage in a clinch.
Wright is trying to maintain a safe position but Rector gets an underhook and turns Wright into the cage.

Rector lands a takedown into guard.
Rector engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Rector stands and throws Wright's legs to the side, diving into side control.
A lull in the action here as Rector stalls from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wright wants to get back to his feet but Rector drags him back down.
Rector controlling the position from side mount.
Wright stops Rector from passing to mount.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wright is letting Rector control him for a moment.
Rector throws a strike aimed at the side of Wright's head but Wright avoids it well.
Rector misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andre Rector.
Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rector is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Rector circles away and we're back to standing.

Rector changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wright looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rector tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Rector creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wright sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Travis Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Andre Rector is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rector feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andre Rector comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rector winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
