Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Olrac Recto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frankie Russo! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Recto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Russo swats him away and circles back towards the center. Russo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Recto throws a head kick but Russo moves out of range.
Recto closes the distance looking to clinch and Russo counters with a nice double leg into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Recto can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Russo controls the pace. Recto wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Russo manages to pass to side control. Recto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Recto is trying to get back to full guard. Russo controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russo looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Russo controlling the pace. Recto wants to control but Russo is keeping busy.
Recto wants to sweep but Russo has passed to side control! Russo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Russo is working Recto over with some ground and pound from side control. Russo controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Recto on the wrong end of some ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Recto takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Russo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Russo working the ground and pound from side control. Recto is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Russo cracks Recto with a big right hand but Recto just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Russo has hold of Recto's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Recto seems comfortable defending it but Russo has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Recto is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Recto is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Russo couldn't care less - he's delighted!
