Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sebastian Belousov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gab Contreras! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belousov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Contreras counters with a left to the body. Contreras throws a lazy uppercut
and Belousov counters with a slapping leg kick. Belousov has his takedown stuffed and Contreras counters with a takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Belousov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Contreras wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Belousov, who protects the arm well. Contreras controlling the position from side mount. Contreras is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Belousov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belousov prevents Contreras from improving position. Contreras taking a breather here. Belousov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Contreras's best efforts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Belousov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Contreras is pressing down on Belousov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belousov is holding on for now. Belousov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Contreras scores with a couple of nice shots. Contreras wants to pass to mount but Belousov is defending the position. Belousov actively working from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Contreras has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Contreras punishing his opponent with strikes. Belousov is trying desperately to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Contreras looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Belousov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Belousov wants to get back to his feet.
Contreras punishing his opponent with strikes. Contreras is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Belousov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Belousov! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Contreras is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gab Contreras dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Belousov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Contreras tries to avoid it but Belousov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Contreras to the ground. Contreras escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Belousov throws out a leg kick but Contreras moves out of range and Belousov only half commits. Sebastian Belousov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Contreras works Belousov's body with a nice hook. Belousov shoots and misses and Belousov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Belousov has his takedown stuffed and Contreras counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Belousov down! Contreras is looking to finish but Belousov is intelligently defending himself.
Belousov is rocked! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sebastian Belousov. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Contreras arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Belousov's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gab Contreras! An out of breath Gab Contreras thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
