Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pound Ground!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, DeeJay Dickson!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dickson tries to clinch but Ground moves out of range.
Dickson is looking to clinch but Ground is avoiding it.
Ground throws a leg kick which misses Dickson's front leg but catches the back leg as Dickson tries to avoid it.
Ground throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ground throws a lazy uppercut
and Ground takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ground swats away the attempt to clinch by Dickson.
Ground throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Dickson counters with a shoot takedown. Ground fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dickson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ground's head.
Ground utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dickson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dickson stops Ground from standing up.
Dickson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Check out the look on Dickson's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ground knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dickson on the ground.
Dickson has an Americana. Ground didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Dickson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Dickson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). DeeJay Dickson!
Our winner, DeeJay Dickson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
