Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson looks to land a body kick but Rua moved away. Jackson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rua manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rua dives on top into guard. Jackson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Jackson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rua avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rua can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rua doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rua manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jackson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jackson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson looking to control but Rua is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jackson punishing his opponent with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jackson is working for a guillotine from mount but Rua frees his head quite easily.

Jackson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rua is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Jackson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Rua is defending against the submission attempts here by Jackson.

Jackson uses his free foot to push down on Rua's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rua. Jackson is landing with some decent strikes but Rua is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jackson seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Rua is holding on tight.
Jackson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rua is on top in guard.

Jackson wants to control but Rua is having none of it. Jackson regains half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson tries to get to full guard but Rua has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rua closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Jackson has Rua pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jackson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rua tumbling to the mat - Jackson dives into Rua's guard. Rua wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him. Jackson passes into half guard. Jackson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rua can do to turn this around? Jackson wants to pass to mount but Rua is defending the position.

Rua is staying active underneath Jackson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jackson slows the pace down in half guard. In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Thomas Jackson! After the fight, Thomas Jackson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
