Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pence Apene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yukii Ogata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ogata has chosen Eminem - Not Afraid as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Pence Apene has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Pence Apene seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pence Apene! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yukii Ogata! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Apene shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ogata as he jumps to the side. Nice takedown defense from Apene. No joy for Ogata on that attempt. Ogata misses with a takedown attempt and Apene counters with a nice body kick.
Apene shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ogata as he avoids it easily. Ogata shoots in looking for a takedown. Apene tries to sprawl out of it but Ogata keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Apene manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pence Apene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yukii Ogata. Horrible takedown by Ogata or perhaps it was just good defense by Apene which made him look bad. No luck for Apene with that takedown attempt. Apene gets the takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Apene advances to full mount. Apene controlling from the full mount. Apene working for a submission but Ogata is keeping him at bay.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ogata is looking to improve his position but Apene isn't that keen on the idea. Apene connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Apene with the ground and pound from mount. Ogata is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ogata sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Ogata looks gassed! Well, if Apene is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Apene is nestled in close to Ogata, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ogata tries to roll over but Apene keeps him under control. Apene with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Apene has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Apene is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Apene has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Apene is controlling the pace.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Apene wants to control but Ogata is keeping him busy. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Apene postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ogata to stand up. Ogata tries to keep at a distance but Apene has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Apene breaks from the clinch.
Apene shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ogata pinned against the cage. Ogata gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ogata loads up on a big right hand but Apene slips the punch. Ogata shoots for a takedown but Apene saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Apene looks for a takedown but Ogata sprawls well. Nice sprawl there from Ogata as Apene shoots in. Apene has a takedown stuffed. Apene keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Apene shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ogata but Ogata pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Apene. No joy for Ogata on that attempt. Ogata stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ogata wants it to stay on the feet. Apene ducks under a wild hook from Ogata. Ogata shoots in for a double leg but Apene sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Apene tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ogata swivels and escapes. Apene lands a nice looking body shot.
Ogata tries to sprawl but Apene drives through with a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Apene is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ogata has managed to free his arm - good work. Ogata is looking to improve his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Apene with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pence Apene dominated that round. That's time! Apene's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Apene tries a head kick but it misses.
Ogata with a lazy takedown attempt and Apene makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Ogata really felt that one! Ogata has his takedown stuffed and Apene counters with a straight right hand. Apene drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Apene trying to control but Ogata is working from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Apene is looking to work some ground and pound but Ogata has wrist control. Apene trying to control the position from guard on top but Ogata is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Apene passes Ogata's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ogata is breathing heavily. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Apene is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ogata! Apene takes Ogata's back. Apene looking for the choke from the back. Apene looking for the choke but no joy. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Apene biding his time, controlling Ogata. Can Ogata hold on?! Apene is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Ogata controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Apene controlling the position well here. Ogata rolled but Apene kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Apene looking for the RNC. Ogata preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Apene. Ogata showing good submission defense here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Apene keeps control of the position as Ogata tries to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ogata is trying to stand back up. Ogata defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Apene's arms. Apene is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ogata can do to turn this around? You can see the frustration on Ogata's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

This has been an exciting period of action! Ogata fending off the submission attempt from Apene. Ogata is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Apene off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Apene scores with punches to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Apene sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Ogata taps out!
