Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Gaston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Viktor Kulakov! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kulakov avoids a kick to the body.
Gaston misses with a straight left. Gaston avoids a punch combination nicely.
Viktor Kulakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gaston takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Nick Gaston has been cut. Sloppy strikes from Kulakov. Those never looked like landing. Gaston scores with a kick to the body.
Kulakov steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Gaston. That one must have hurt. Kulakov looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gaston misses with a kick to the body.
Gaston buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Gaston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kulakov was well out of range. Poor timing from Gaston. Gaston throws a left that rocks Kulakov and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gaston dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Kulakov regain composure!
It looks like Viktor Kulakov has been cut. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Gaston wants to stand but Kulakov is controlling his arm. Kulakov is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gaston asserts his dominance and retains side control. Gaston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kulakov wants to get back to his feet but Gaston is dominant here and he's now got Kulakov's back! Kulakov trying to get back to his feet but Gaston is in full control for now. Kulakov manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position. Gaston lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kulakov takes a step back to recover. Gaston lands a front kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gaston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kulakov throws an off balance right hand
and Gaston counters with a crisp right that sends Kulakov to the canvas! Gaston follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
