Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Barnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Hester!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hester is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hester wants to clinch but Barnett slips to the side

and Barnett holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Barnett is trying to pull guard but Hester has him pressed against the cage.

Barnett blocking some punches.
Hester throws a head punch that misses.
Hester throws a punch but it's blocked by Barnett.
Barnett blocks a body shot from Hester.
Hester tries to land knees in the clinch but Barnett avoids the damage to the body.
Barnett blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Barnett has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hester after a bit of a struggle.

Barnett jumps into guard, dragging Hester to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Hester swings wildly with an uppercut but Barnett uses good head movement to avoid it.

Barnett has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hester is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hester bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hester is stalling here. Barnett is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hester seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Barnett has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Hester parries the strikes from Barnett easily there. Barnett is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hester to escape.

Barnett fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hester to the ground. Barnett is now in Hester's guard.

Barnett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Barnett is taking a breather. Hester says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Barnett wants to take Hester's back here but Hester is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Hester tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barnett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Barnett decides to stand back up. Barnett steps back and let's Hester get back to his feet.
Barnett throws a leg kick that is checked
and Hester cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hester looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Barnett shoots in for a takedown but Hester shows good takedown defense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barnett fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hester moves into the clinch.
Hester misses with the head strike.
A head punch on the inside from Hester fails to land.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Marcus Hester.
I think Hester has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
