Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlton Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bj Becks! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Becks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Becks is looking to clinch. Nice shot by Banks. Banks throws a big shot that misses. Banks fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Becks shoots in and drives through. Banks sprawls well. Banks lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Donk. Banks catches Becks right on the button with a cross. Banks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Becks throws a shot from downtown. Banks moves away and avoids it. Becks fails in his attempt to clinch. Banks dodges the punch combination from Becks.
Becks looks to score with a jab to the body but Banks is just out of range. Becks on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Banks lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Becks closes the distance and pushes Banks back into the cage. The referee is keeping an eye on Banks - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Becks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Banks's elbow. Becks is looking to take this one to the mat. Becks is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Banks is defending well. Carlton Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bj Becks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks lands with a short shot to the head. Banks scores with a shot to the side of Becks's head. Banks tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Becks blocks a body shot from Banks. Still in the clinch, Banks scores with a nice short uppercut. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Banks creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Banks prevents the takedown attempt.
A nice right hand lands inside from Banks. Banks just leaning against Becks, taking a breather. Becks prevents a body shot from Banks. Becks drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Banks gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Banks pushes Becks back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Becks is rocked! Banks unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Becks! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Banks is unloading with more strikes now! Becks drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlton Banks! Carlton Banks was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
