Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carl Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carl Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James King! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Mason breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
King fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mason avoids it really well and circles away. Mason lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively. King tries to keep at a distance but Mason has taken the fight into the clinch. Mason wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mason is trying to break the clinch but King is controlling him. Mason wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.
King wants a takedown but no success here.
King wants to take the fight to the mat but Mason manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Carl Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James King. Mason pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mason throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mason gets in close and instigates a clinch. King is working for takedown but Mason is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. King creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Mason's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. King has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mason jumps guard and drags King to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mason is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. King looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mason is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mason with a flurry of punches that miss. Mason wants to control from the top but King keeps moving. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mason cracks King with a solid left hand. King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there. King avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. King tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mason connects with a couple of short punches. Mason wants to control from the top but King keeps moving. King wants to stand but Mason is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King is trying to control the position but Mason postures up. Mason wants to control from the top but King keeps moving. King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mason in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard. Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted. King keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Mason working some strikes from top position. Mason stands and steps away. King gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Mason connects with a looping right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease. King misses with a few strikes there.

Mason has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but King can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. King must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. King looking to pass the guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mason uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Carl Mason dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
King stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mason. A nice inside leg kick there by Mason. That's going to slow King down. King on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mason. Mason obviously looking to wear him down.
Mason will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

King tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mason sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten King somewhat. King gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Mason to counter with a crisp jab. King takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Mason throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason connects with a leg kick. King looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. King closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mason pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mason dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on King. That did some damage! Mason misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mason swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. King instigates a clinch. King tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mason is trying to push King away but King has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Mason is trying to break the clinch but King has him pressed against the cage. King has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mason avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. King prevents Mason from breaking the clinch. Mason wants to break free but King has control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. King wants to get up but he can't break Mason's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mason manages to escape and get back to his feet.
King throws a right and a left that both miss. This has been an exciting period of action! Mason misses with a few strikes there.

Carl Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. King takes one to the chin there. Carl Mason is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mason fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage. Mason is trying to force a seperation but King has the dominant position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mason with good strikes from the mount here! King is squirming around, avoiding Mason's attempts to control the action. Mason fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mason is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Carl Mason just wasn't active enough. King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mason's waist but Mason gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. King takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. James King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mason takes the fight into the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Carl Mason showed his dominance in that final round. Well Mason has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
