Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jojo Cunnings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Rizal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jose Rizal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jojo Cunnings! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Rizal! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rizal looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cunnings! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Cunnings is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rizal stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Rizal fails with the takedown and Cunnings counters with a flying knee. Nice. Rizal with a lazy takedown attempt and Cunnings counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Cunnings fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rizal manages to avoid it. Sloppy strikes from Cunnings. Those never looked like landing. Cunnings jabs Rizal to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jojo Cunnings seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cunnings waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rizal. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rizal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cunnings swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cunnings fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cunnings throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cunnings misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cunnings misses with a two punch combination.
Cunnings rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rizal moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Rizal closes the distance and pushes Cunnings back into the cage. Rizal wants a takedown but no success here.
Jojo Cunnings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Rizal. Cunnings escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jojo Cunnings is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cunnings throws a right hand that Rizal ducks under and follows up with a left that Rizal also avoids with ease. Cunnings scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Cunnings throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Rizal shoots in but no luck this time. Cunnings misses with a combination
so Rizal counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rizal trying to control the position from guard on top but Cunnings is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Cunnings knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rizal on the ground. Rizal working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cunnings's head. Rizal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. It looks like Rizal might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jose Rizal was stalling too much, according to the referee. Rizal throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cunnings tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rizal is in Cunnings's guard. Rizal slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Cunnings tries to escape but Rizal is in control. Rizal is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cunnings is trying to get back to half guard. Rizal is trying to get an arm triangle but Cunnings is defending well. Rizal tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rizal working the ground and pound. Cunnings tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Rizal looking to control but Cunnings is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rizal controlling the pace for now. Rizal fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cunnings has given up his back here. Will Rizal look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Rizal keeps control of the position as Cunnings tries to break free.
Rizal working for the choke. Rizal is working for a rear naked choke. Cunnings is not defending it well and Rizal has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Cunnings refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Cunnings's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jose Rizal! A very excited looking Jose Rizal made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
