Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Gorden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seamus Omalley!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A clash of legs there as Gorden blocks the low kick.
Omalley displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gorden throws out the jab.
Gorden looks for a takedown but Omalley sprawls well.
Omalley slaps away a takedown attempt from Gorden, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gorden shoots in for a takedown but Omalley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Gorden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Gorden. No joy for Omalley on that attempt.
Gorden closes this distance looking for a takedown but Omalley circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gorden.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Omalley wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Seamus Omalley wasn't active enough on the ground.
Gorden shoots in but no luck this time.
Gorden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Omalley sprawls well. Omalley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gorden gets slowly back to his feet.

Omalley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gorden just misses with a punch to the body.
Gorden tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Omalley swivels and escapes.
Omalley throws a leg kick that misses.
Omalley feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gorden's calf.
Gorden shoots for a takedown but Omalley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gorden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Omalley's waist but Omalley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gorden off to one side.
Omalley goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gorden shoots in for a takedown but Omalley shows good takedown defense.
Gorden pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Omalley back to the cage. Gorden follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Omalley scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Omalley tries a low kick but Gorden avoids it.
Omalley dodges the punch combination from Gorden.
Gorden doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Omalley counters with a body kick.
Omalley throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gorden shoots in and drives through. Omalley sprawls well.
Omalley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Omalley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Omalley works his way to his opponent's back.

Gorden defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Omalley's arms.

Omalley has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gorden has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gorden is in bad spot here.
Gorden staying busy and making it hard for Omalley to control.
Omalley doesn't have the hooks in and Gorden manages to turn into his guard.
Omalley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gorden tries to free his leg and advance position but Omalley is retaining full guard.
Gorden is pushing down on Omalley's leg trying to pass to half guard. Omalley is fighting to maintain full guard but Gorden has managed to sneak the leg through.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Omalley wants to sweep but Gorden has passed to side control!
Omalley is not content to let Gorden control the position.
Gorden is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Omalley's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seamus Omalley dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Omalley shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Omalley's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gorden under the eye.
Omalley takes a swing at Gorden's ribcage but misses.
Omalley closes the distance and clinches up with Gorden, looking for a takedown. Omalley pushes Gorden against the cage but Gorden circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gorden avoids a kick to the body.
Gorden swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gorden throws a series of punches but Omalley moves out of range.
Omalley throws a hook but Gorden avoids it easily.
Gorden moves out of range as Omalley strikes.
Gorden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gorden dives in and grabs Omalley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Omalley pushes down on Gorden's head and hops out.
Omalley throws a half hearted mid kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Omalley.
Omalley throws the kick towards the body but Gorden avoids it.
Nice jab there from Omalley.

Gorden fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Omalley avoids it really well and circles away.
Omalley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gorden throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Omalley, right into the meat.

Seamus Omalley seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Omalley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jeff Gorden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Omalley misses with a hook.

Omalley bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Omalley lands a leg kick that knocks Gorden off balance momentarily.

A decent looking cross lands there for Omalley.
Omalley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Gorden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Omalley.
Omalley shoots in and drives through. Gorden sprawls well.
Jeff Gorden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seamus Omalley.
Gorden shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Omalley as he jumps to the side.
Gorden shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Omalley as he avoids it easily.

Gorden feints and as Omalley raises his hands in defense, Gorden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jeff Gorden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gorden wants to control from the top but Omalley keeps moving.
Gorden stays in close to Omalley's body and controls the position.

Gorden sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Omalley's guard.
Gorden wants to control but Omalley is keeping him busy.
Gorden stalling away here and it's allowed Omalley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Omalley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gorden's guard.
Gorden is trying to control the position but Omalley postures up.

Gorden manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Omalley is squirming around, avoiding Gorden's attempts to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Omalley is in all sorts of trouble here.
Gorden avoids the attempt from Omalley to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Omalley tries to improve his position but Gorden has taken his back! Gorden has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Omalley tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gorden pushes Omalley away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jeff Gorden!
After winning the bout, Jeff Gorden thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
