PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oink Quee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oink Quee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jamie Irvin!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irvin slips a jab and a cross from Quee.
Irvin scores with a one two! Quee had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Irvin clinches up with Quee and pushes him back against the cage.
Irvin avoids the elbow strike from Quee, against the cage.

Irvin pulls Quee into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Quee throws a big right hand that misses.
Irvin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Irvin can't keep his opponent in guard - Quee advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Quee wants to take a breather but Irvin is having none of it.
Quee sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Irvin defending well though.
Irvin looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Irvin keeps working.

Quee is stalling here. Irvin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Quee seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Irvin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Quee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Quee tries to bench press Irvin off him but Irvin keeps the position.
Quee is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Irvin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Quee is looking for a sweep. Irvin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Quee is refusing to be controlled, as Irvin sits in half guard.
Quee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Quee regains full guard. Nicely done.

Irvin tries to free his leg and advance position but Quee is retaining full guard.

Quee has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Irvin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
A head kick misses from Quee.

Irvin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Quee trying to keep a closed guard but Irvin is proving a slippery customer.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Irvin is one step ahead there.
Quee has Irvin pulled in close to control his posture.

Quee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Irvin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Irvin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Irvin wants to control from the top but Quee keeps moving.
Irvin stops Quee from standing up.
Irvin trying to control but Quee is working from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Irvin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Irvin prevents Quee from improving his position.
Quee is not content to let Irvin control the position.

Irvin wants to pass to mount but Quee is defending the position.
Irvin seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Quee manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Quee looking for a guillotine here but Irvin defends easily.
Irvin cracks Quee with a solid left hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Irvin being controlled here momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Oink Quee will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Quee tries to keep at a distance but Irvin has taken the fight into the clinch.

Quee tightens his grip and picks Irvin up, before dumping him to the ground. Irvin manages to land in guard.
Quee postures up.
Quee passes Irvin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Irvin is trying to maintain the position but Quee is very close to passing his half guard.
Irvin tries to kick Quee off in order to stand up. Quee Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Quee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Irvin tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Quee trying to control the position but Irvin is working away.
Irvin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Quee's best efforts.
Irvin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quee working Irvin over with strikes.

Irvin has one foot on Quee's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Quee avoids a punch combination nicely.
Irvin misses with a shot to the body

and Quee counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Irvin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Quee.

Quee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Irvin uses from the top position.
Quee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Irvin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Quee.
Irvin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quee lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Irvin hang on?
Quee unloads with some shots from mount but Irvin bucks and avoids them well.

Quee has control of Irvin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Irvin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Quee looking to control but Irvin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Irvin really wants to buck Quee off and get back to his feet.
Quee avoids the attempt from Irvin to control.
Irvin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Quee trying to control but Irvin is having none of it.
Quee controlling his opponent.
Poor strikes thrown by Quee there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Quee working the ground and pound effectively.

Quee is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Irvin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oink Quee dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Irvin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Quee tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Irvin is in Quee's guard.
Quee wants to sweep but no luck.
Irvin wanted to stand there but Quee had control of the position.
Irvin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Quee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Irvin is squirming around, avoiding Quee's attempts to control the action.

Quee has hold of Irvin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Irvin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Irvin tries to control Quee's body but Quee pushes him off. Irvin squirms to his side and now Quee has his back!

Quee tightening his grip on Irvin, looking for the choke.
Irvin wants to escape the position.

Quee is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Irvin is defending well though. Quee let's go of the attempt for now.

Quee is looking for the choke from the back position but Irvin is controlling his hands well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Quee is cranking Irvin's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Irvin! He's tightened the choke and Irvin is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Oink Quee!
Oink Quee looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Oink!'.
