PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jebediah Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Bastard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Reverend And The Makers - Heavyweight Champion Of The World . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Jebediah Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Big Bastard!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastard misses with a double jab.
Bastard closes the distance and clinches up with Reed, looking for a takedown. Bastard pushes Reed against the cage but Reed circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Reed tries for a takedown but Bastard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bastard scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Reed circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bastard throws a right hand that Reed ducks under and follows up with a left that Reed also avoids with ease.

Reed looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bastard!
Reed scoring with strikes but Bastard is staying in there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reed is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bastard can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Reed throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Reed tries to control but Bastard wriggling away.

Reed working for a submission but Bastard is keeping him at bay.
Reed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bastard is squirming around, avoiding Reed's attempts to control the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reed has hold of Bastard's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bastard manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reed lands a big elbow.
Reed throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Reed trying to control but Bastard is having none of it.

Reed jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bastard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bastard and Reed has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bastard sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Reed is trying to get an arm triangle but Bastard is defending well.
Bastard regains half guard there - taking advantage of Reed's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Bastard regains full guard. Nicely done.
Reed trying to control the position from guard on top but Bastard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bastard is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Reed drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bastard manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Reed has Bastard in his guard.
Bastard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bastard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bastard trying to control but Reed is working from the bottom.

Bastard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Reed has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bastard has managed to get both his arms back between Reed's legs - danger averted.
Reed is looking to stand up but Bastard isn't so interested in that idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bastard throwing strikes from guard but Reed blocks nicely.
Bastard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Reed is trying to control the position but Bastard postures up.
Reed wants to sweep here but Bastard controlling him for the moment.
Bastard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Reed has his foot on Bastard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bastard works his way back into a safe position though.
Bastard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bastard passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bastard remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Bastard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jebediah Reed dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bastard looks to land a combination but Reed avoids it well.
Bastard takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bastard shoots for a double leg takedown but Reed sprawls well. He's pushed Bastard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sloppy strikes from Reed. Those never looked like landing.
Nice sprawl there from Reed as Bastard shoots in.

Reed clinches up with Bastard and pushes him back against the cage.
Reed lands an elbow inside that Bastard shrugs off.
Reed wants a takedown.
Reed drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bastard is fighting off a takedown attempt but Reed is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bastard to the mat. Bastard regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reed won't allow Bastard to get back to his feet.

Reed wants to control from the top but Bastard keeps moving.
Reed might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Reed has gone for a leg lock! Bastard slips out almost immediately though and dives into Reed's guard.

Bastard stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Reed has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Bastard manages to get his head free but now Reed has transitioned to an armbar! Bastard grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Reed! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jebediah Reed!
