Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyrone Bate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Nik Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Bate avoids the body shot from Volkov.
Bate defending well as Volkov loads up on a big left hand.
Nice uppercut lands for Volkov. That snapped Bate's head back.
Volkov looks to land a combination. Bate sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
A looping hook to the body misses from Volkov. Bate does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bate fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Volkov manages to avoid it.
Volkov throws a right and a left that Bate avoids nicely.
Bate throws a low kick, looking for Volkov's leg but Volkov calmly moves out of range.
Bate connects with the punch.
Bate looks to score with a jab to the body but Volkov is just out of range.
Bate looks for the body kick but Volkov saw that one coming.
Bate bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Volkov's head.
Bate wants to land a leg kick but Volkov is out of range.

Bate dodges the punch combination from Volkov.
Volkov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Volkov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bate moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bate lands with a thumping leg kick.
Volkov thows a body shot but no joy.
Bate takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bate fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Volkov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Volkov just misses with a punch to the body.
Nik Volkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bate throws a head kick but Volkov moves out of range.
Bate thows a body shot but no joy.
Volkov checks the leg kick nicely there.
Volkov is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bate rather than just go for the knockout.

Bate motions for Volkov to come forward. Bate throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bate digs a good hook to Volkov's body.
Volkov throws a body punch but Bate moves out of range.
Bate keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Volkov throws an overhand right that lands on Bate's shoulder, as Bate tries to avoid the shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bate lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Volkov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Volkov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Nik Volkov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bate keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Volkov.
Volkov lands a really nice looking cross but Bate seems unphased.

Volkov throws a shot from downtown. Bate moves away and avoids it.

Volkov takes a swing at Bate's ribcage but misses.

Volkov blocks a low kick nicely.
Volkov throws a sloppy head kick and Bate moves out of range easily.
Volkov looks to score with a jab to the body but Bate is just out of range.
Volkov lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Bate lands a head kick. Volkov smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Volkov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bate was well out of range. Poor timing from Volkov.

Bate changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Volkov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Volkov is trying to control Bate's posture but Bate avoids it.
The ground and pound from Bate seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bate misses with the ground and pound.
Volkov wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Bate is looking to take a break and control but Volkov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Volkov wants to control but Bate postures up.
The referee asks Bate politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bate prefers to stall for the moment though.

Volkov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

You can see the frustration on Volkov's face as Bate controls the position.

Bate in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Bate cracks Volkov with a big right hand but Volkov just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Bate working the strikes but Volkov uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Bate missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bate is keen to just control but Volkov is a slippery customer.
Volkov wants to control but Bate is keeping busy.
Volkov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bate's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bate's back!
Bate tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Bate tries to reverse the position but Volkov maintains control.
Bate sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Volkov tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Bate gets full guard.

Bate is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Volkov frees his head nicely. Oh but Bate has switched to an armbar! Volkov is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Tyrone Bate!
After the fight, Tyrone Bate was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
