Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stannis Baratheon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stannis Baratheon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baratheon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Baratheon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Baratheon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away. Baratheon stuffs the takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet. Baratheon dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Diaz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Baratheon is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Baratheon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz trying to keep a closed guard but Baratheon is proving a slippery customer.
Baratheon trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Baratheon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now. Baratheon won't allow Diaz to sweep him here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz shoots in and drives through. Baratheon sprawls well. Baratheon fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stannis Baratheon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Baratheon trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom. Baratheon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Diaz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Diaz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Baratheon has just dragged him back down to the mat. Diaz can't do much from the bottom here. Diaz prevents Baratheon from moving into mount. Baratheon sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Diaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Diaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Baratheon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Diaz is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baratheon sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Diaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Baratheon wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy. Baratheon is putting a hurting on Diaz here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baratheon throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Baratheon creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Diaz tries to improve position but can't. Baratheon in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Baratheon decides to stand up, so the ref orders Diaz to his feet. Baratheon takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Baratheon shoots in but no luck this time. Diaz wants to clinch up but Baratheon keeps it at a distance. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz tries to clinch there but Baratheon circles away.

Baratheon throws a looping overhand right but Diaz ducks down to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stannis Baratheon dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Stannis Baratheon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Baratheon is defended easily by Diaz. Left hook, right uppercut from Baratheon. Baratheon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Baratheon shoots in for a double leg but Diaz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Diaz fails with the takedown and Baratheon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Baratheon, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stannis Baratheon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baratheon tries to clinch up but Diaz circles away and keeps his distance. Diaz shoots for a takedown but Baratheon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Baratheon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Baratheon wants it to stay on the feet. Diaz lands a nice looking kick to the body. Baratheon takes a step back to recover. Diaz drives through with a takedown into guard. Diaz won't allow Baratheon to sweep him here. Baratheon has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Diaz has passed into side control.
Diaz stands up and beckons Baratheon to his feet. A nice combination there by Diaz.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baratheon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Diaz sprawls well. Diaz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Baratheon gets slowly back to his feet. Diaz fails in his attempt to clinch. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Baratheon, before circling back to the center of the mat. Baratheon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Baratheon shows good takedown defense. Baratheon scores a takedown into full mount! Diaz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baratheon has control of Diaz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Diaz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diaz is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Baratheon misses with a head shot. Diaz manages to control the position for a moment. Baratheon unloads with some shots from mount but Diaz bucks and avoids them well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baratheon goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Diaz is on top in guard.
Stannis Baratheon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Baratheon looking for a sweep. Not yet Baratheon, not yet. Diaz trying to control but Baratheon is working from the bottom. Diaz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Baratheon is proving hard to escape from. Diaz wants to control from the top but Baratheon keeps moving. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz prevents Baratheon from getting back to his feet. Baratheon lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Diaz hang on? Baratheon with the ground and pound from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baratheon throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Baratheon lands a big shot there that rocks Diaz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baratheon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Diaz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baratheon misses with a head shot. Diaz uses the momentum to regain guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.
Diaz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Baratheon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Baratheon shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense. Stannis Baratheon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Baratheon on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stannis Baratheon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baratheon's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Baratheon duly obliges. Diaz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Diaz wants to clinch up but Baratheon keeps it at a distance. Baratheon shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed Baratheon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Diaz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Baratheon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat. Baratheon throws a combination that misses and Diaz counters with a nice leg kick. Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Baratheon tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Baratheon to the ground. Baratheon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Baratheon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Baratheon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Diaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Baratheon. Baratheon gets slowly back to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Baratheon. Baratheon displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Baratheon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Diaz throws a front kick that sends Baratheon stumbling back into the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stannis Baratheon. Well Baratheon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Stannis Baratheon! After the fight, Stannis Baratheon was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
