The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward throws a good cross that connects.
Winfield tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ward was well out of range. Poor timing from Winfield.
Winfield waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ward.
Nice uppercut lands for Ward. That snapped Winfield's head back.
Ward moves into the clinch successfully.
Ward gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Winfield.
Ward works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Ward wants to stand and escape but instead Winfield has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Winfield prevents Ward from getting back to his feet.
Winfield throws a strike but Ward rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Winfield wants to sweep here but Ward controlling him for the moment.
Winfield might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Winfield has his foot on Ward's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ward works his way back into a safe position though.
Winfield pushes a forearm under Ward's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Ward is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
