Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Worth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
37 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mario Betoli! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Betoli getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
It looks like Miguel Worth has been cut. Worth closes the distance looking to clinch and Worth is countered with a crisp right hand from Betoli that sends him to the canvas! Betoli follows him to the mat into side control.
Worth is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A lull in the action here. The strikes coming from Betoli are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Betoli working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Worth is looking to regain half guard here but Betoli keeps moving and retains side control. Worth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Betoli on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Betoli is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Worth has escaped the position, nice work there. Betoli content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Worth dodges the ground and pound from Betoli. The referee asks Betoli politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Betoli prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Betoli postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Worth seems a little lost for a moment, as Betoli dominates the positioning. Betoli in side control, throwing shots but Worth defends. Worth is letting Betoli control him for a moment. Betoli working the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Betoli moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Betoli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The ground and pound from Betoli seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Betoli takes a little break here. Worth wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Betoli working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Betoli in side control, throwing shots but Worth defends.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Betoli wants to control but Worth is keeping him busy. Betoli scores with a couple of short elbows.
Miguel Worth's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
