Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mualzavata Animai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Mcknight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Animai might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Never Back Down - Linkin Park. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcknight lands a head shot.
Animai tries to sprawl but Mcknight drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mcknight wants to stand but Animai has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Animai has his hands clasped together around Mcknight's back. He's all about the action.
Animai has one foot on Mcknight's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mcknight shoots in for a takedown but Animai shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mcknight shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mcknight showed some decent athleticism there.
Animai is trying to maintain the position but Mcknight is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Animai is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mcknight pulls his head out easily.
Animai gets full guard.

Animai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcknight doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcknight manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Animai striking off his back but it's not causing Mcknight any problems.
Animai looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mcknight passes into half guard.
Animai is looking for a sweep. Mcknight is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mcknight not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mcknight uses his free foot to push down on Animai's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Animai.
Mcknight wants to control the pace but Animai is squirming around nicely.
Animai sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Mcknight tries to pass the half guard into mount. Animai knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Animai manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mcknight wants to stand but Animai has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Animai is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Animai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcknight doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcknight manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcknight postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Animai is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcknight, into his guard.
Mcknight looks gassed!
Animai drops back looking for a leg! Mcknight is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mcknight manages to kick Animai off! Animai jumps back into Mcknight's guard.
Mcknight trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Mcknight working a defensive guard but Animai passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Animai is trying to work for a kimura but Mcknight is defending well.
Animai decides to stand up.
Animai throws a jab but it's blocked by Mcknight.
Animai throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcknight was covering up waiting for the punch and Animai finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Animai missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Animai sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mcknight's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Animai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mcknight is just riding it out for now. Animai eventually gives up the hold.
Animai is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mualzavata Animai dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Animai fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Animai gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mcknight postures up in Animai's guard and throws a big left but Animai blocks it.
Mcknight missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mcknight got a little sloppy there for a moment and Animai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mcknight has managed to get both his arms back between Animai's legs - danger averted.

Oh but Animai is tightening it up a little... Mcknight has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mcknight reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mcknight taps out! Nice BJJ there by Animai!
