Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Konani Kulap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Turu Ropuia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konani Kulap could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Turu Ropuia's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Konani Kulap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Turu Ropuia!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kulap feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ropuia's calf.
Ropuia wants to clinch.
Kulap clinches.
Kulap pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kulap stuffs the takedown.
Ropuia gets caught flat footed, as Kulap shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ropuia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kulap controls the pace.
Kulap postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kulap landing some decent shots from guard.

Ropuia is trying to control the position but Kulap postures up.
Kulap is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Ropuia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kulap doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kulap manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ropuia looks gassed!
Kulap wants to pass the guard but Ropuia is keeping the position.
Kulap postures up.
Ropuia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kulap is one step ahead there.

Ropuia is looking for a triangle but Kulap pushes his legs off easily.

Kulap trying to control the position from guard on top but Ropuia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Konani Kulap wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ropuia tries to close the distance and clinch but Kulap swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ropuia wants to clinch up but Kulap keeps it at a distance.
Kulap will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ropuia tries a head kick but it misses.
Kulap really is a fat lump.
Ropuia shoots in looking for a takedown but Kulap manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ropuia's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kulap lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ropuia circles away quickly and effectively.
Ropuia misses with a takedown attempt - Kulap sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Konani Kulap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Turu Ropuia.
Kulap dives in and scores a takedown into Ropuia's guard.
Kulap looking to sit in guard and control but Ropuia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kulap not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ropuia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ropuia wants to stand but Kulap has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ropuia pushes down on Kulap's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kulap tries to roll over but Ropuia keeps him under control.
Ropuia seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ropuia seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kulap is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
