Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Janvier Denar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Hansen! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Hansen is looking to take this one to the mat. Hansen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hansen taking a breather. Hansen swings wildly with an uppercut but Denar uses good head movement to avoid it. Denar wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hansen has him pressed against the cage. Hansen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hansen shoots in for a takedown but Denar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hansen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Janvier Denar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Hansen. Denar connects with the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen shoots in for a takedown but Denar shows good takedown defense. Hansen avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Denar connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hansen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Denar manages to avoid it. Hansen shoots in but no luck this time. Hansen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Denar as he avoids it easily. Denar lands a jab to the head.
Hansen looks gassed! Denar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Denar lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Hansen shoots for a double leg takedown but Denar sprawls well. He's pushed Hansen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Denar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hansen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Denar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hansen on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hansen wants to clinch but Denar slips to the side and Denar counters with a nice uppercut. Stan Hansen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Denar scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Denar scores with a jab. Denar lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Hansen is rocked! Denar uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Hansen is still on wobbly legs! Can Denar finish him? Hansen drops his hands momentarily. Denar doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Hansen staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Hansen doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Janvier Denar! A very excited looking Janvier Denar rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
