PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Zeitgeist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zeitgeist comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sarcophagus kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brett Zeitgeist!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.

Diaz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Zeitgeist is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diaz to the mat. Diaz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Diaz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zeitgeist postures up in Diaz's guard and throws a big left but Diaz blocks it.
Diaz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Diaz tries to bum rush Zeitgeist with a series of wild strikes but Zeitgeist uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but Zeitgeist sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Zeitgeist throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zeitgeist is in Diaz's guard.
Zeitgeist throws a big right hand that misses.

Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Zeitgeist is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz is pressing down on Zeitgeist's thigh, looking to free his foot. Zeitgeist is holding on for now.

Zeitgeist goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Zeitgeist takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Zeitgeist is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Diaz to keep the fight standing.
Brett Zeitgeist has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Zeitgeist turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zeitgeist manages to end up in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zeitgeist throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Diaz wants to control but Zeitgeist postures up.
Jose Diaz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to Brett Zeitgeist.
