Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Grizzly Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maple Leaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grizzly Adams has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grizzly Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maple Leaf!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Adams missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Adams is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Leaf is just riding it out for now. Adams eventually gives up the hold.

Leaf looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Adams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leaf doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Adams.

Leaf is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Adams pulls his head out easily.

Adams wants to work for an arm triangle but Leaf is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adams works his foot free and advances to mount.
Leaf tries to buck Adams off but he can't manage it.
Leaf sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Leaf is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Adams pulls his head out easily.
Leaf tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Adams manages to move to mount!
Leaf is trying desperately to improve position.

Leaf defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Adams.
Leaf is desperately trying to improve his position but Adams has a good base and remains in mount.

Leaf is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Adams has control of Leaf's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Leaf regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Adams will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Leaf is trying to reverse the position but instead Adams has taken his back - oops!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Adams is trying to stick to Leaf's back but Leaf is turning into Adams. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Adams's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Leaf.

Adams has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Leaf is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Adams.
Adams sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Leaf decides to stand and escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leaf defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Adams.
Adams closes the distance and clinches up with Leaf, looking for a takedown. Adams pushes Leaf against the cage but Leaf circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Adams really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Adams gets caught flat footed, as Leaf shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Leaf thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Leaf throws a big elbow that misses.
Leaf trying to control the position from guard on top but Adams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Leaf is looking to work some ground and pound but Adams has wrist control.

Adams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Leaf gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Leaf thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leaf is looking to work some ground and pound but Adams has wrist control.

Leaf is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Adams is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Adams has escaped and now he's on top!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Adams is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Adams working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Leaf's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Leaf throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Adams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Grizzly Adams will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Leaf pushes Adams up against the cage in a clinch.

Adams successfully pulls guard.
Leaf in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Leaf postures up and lands a big shot to Adams's brow.
Leaf throws a big right hand that misses.

Adams has his foot on Leaf's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Leaf works his way back into a safe position though.

Adams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leaf is aware though and is defending well.
Grizzly Adams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Leaf stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Adams gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Leaf to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leaf wants to pass the guard but Adams is keeping the position.
Leaf missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Adams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leaf doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Adams is tightening it up a little... Leaf has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Leaf reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Leaf taps out! Nice BJJ there by Adams!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Grizzly Adams!
