Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Juan Dimagiba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Azumah Nelson! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Nelson misses. Nelson stuffs the takedown. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nelson is defended easily by Dimagiba. Dimagiba shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nelson fails with the takedown. No luck for Dimagiba with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Dimagiba. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dimagiba gets the takedown into side control. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Dimagiba cracks Nelson with a big right hand but Nelson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dimagiba landing strikes. Dimagiba in side control, throwing shots but Nelson defends. Nelson is trying to get back to half guard. Nelson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dimagiba working the ground and pound but Nelson is defending the strikes. Nelson tries to improve position but can't. Dimagiba tries to advance to mount but Nelson denies him. Dimagiba working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Nelson is looking to regain half guard here but Dimagiba keeps moving and retains side control. Dimagiba throws a strike aimed at the side of Nelson's head but Nelson avoids it well. Dimagiba throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Nelson is looking to reverse the position. Dimagiba creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Dimagiba working the ground and pound but Nelson is defending the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dimagiba lands a decent elbow from side control. Dimagiba in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Dimagiba looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Nelson is avoiding damage well.
Dimagiba really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. You can see the frustration on Nelson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dimagiba wants to control but Nelson is keeping him busy. Nelson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Nelson taking a bit of punishment here - Dimagiba scoring with strikes. Dimagiba connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nelson some visible discomfort.
Nelson looking for a sweep but Dimagiba has passed into full mount! Oh no! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Nelson is desperately trying to improve his position but Dimagiba has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Dimagiba working the ground and pound effectively.

Nelson is rocked! Dimagiba lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nelson hang on? Nelson is still in real trouble! Can Dimagiba finish him? Dimagiba postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Nelson badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Dimagiba around the waist but Dimagiba pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Dimagiba is the winner by TKO! Dimagiba jumps onto the ropes and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
