Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rickon Mallister! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sonny Hills! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mallister misses the shot to the body. Mallister thows a body shot but no joy. Mallister throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nice defenses there by Mallister. Hills tries to clinch there but Mallister circles away.
The fighters circling - Mallister throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hills showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mallister.
Mallister tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hills was well out of range. Poor timing from Mallister. Mallister misses with a two punch combination.
Hills tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mallister manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hills is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hills walks into a jab.
It looks like Sonny Hills has been cut. Hills bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mallister on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mallister tries to get out of the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mallister struggling a bit here. Hills tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hills has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mallister is trying to buck Hills off. Mallister knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hills on the ground. Hills wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mallister, who protects the arm well. You can see the frustration on Mallister's face as Hills controls the position. That's three minutes gone in the round. Mallister pushes Hills away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hills gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Hills trying to control the position but Mallister is working away. Mallister wants to get back to his feet but Hills drags him back down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hills has hold of Mallister's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mallister tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Hills cranks the arm and Mallister screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mallister, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
