Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Josh Moore! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hulio Pidaraskez! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pidaraskez with a poor takedown and Moore counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pidaraskez won't be happy with that. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pidaraskez trying to remain calm as Moore controls from the top position. Pidaraskez struggling a bit here. Pidaraskez is looking for a sweep. Moore decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pidaraskez to his feet. Pidaraskez with a lazy takedown attempt and Moore counters with a nice double leg into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Pidaraskez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Moore! Moore is looking to improve his position but Pidaraskez isn't that keen on the idea. Pidaraskez working for a guillotine from mount but Moore is in no mood to give up. Pidaraskez avoids the attempt from Moore to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pidaraskez controlling his opponent. Moore wants to hold on but Pidaraskez pushes him away. Moore is trying to escape the mount.
Pidaraskez looking to control but Moore is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pidaraskez wants to control but Moore has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Moore is looking for a sweep. Pidaraskez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Pidaraskez is pressing down on Moore's thigh, looking to free his foot. Moore is holding on for now. Pidaraskez is working for a kimura but Moore is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pidaraskez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Moore is not content to let Pidaraskez control the position. Moore slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pidaraskez wants to control from the top but Moore keeps moving. Pidaraskez stands and throws Moore's legs to the side, diving into side control. Moore can't do much from the bottom here. Pidaraskez swings around for an armbar but Moore sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pidaraskez's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pidaraskez is trying to control the position but Moore postures up. Moore wants to stand but Pidaraskez is controlling his posture from full guard. Pidaraskez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Moore wants to stand but Pidaraskez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Moore has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pidaraskez is looking to sweep but instead, Moore has passed into half guard.
Moore could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pidaraskez is looking to control Moore's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pidaraskez avoid being mounted? Pidaraskez manages to get to full guard.
Moore looking to pass the guard. Pidaraskez is trying to keep Moore in close.
Moore working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Moore is looking to stand up but Pidaraskez won't let him. Pidaraskez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Pidaraskez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josh Moore dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Moore gets a takedown into half guard. Moore is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Pidaraskez is trying to hold Moore in close to prevent damage but Moore has managed to pass into half guard.
Pidaraskez is not content to let Moore control the position. Moore stalling. Moore is pressing down on Pidaraskez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pidaraskez is holding on for now. Pidaraskez gets full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moore postures up.
Moore got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pidaraskez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moore has managed to get both his arms back between Pidaraskez's legs - danger averted. Moore postures up.
Moore is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pidaraskez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pidaraskez has escaped and now he's on top! Pidaraskez prevents Moore from getting back to his feet. Pidaraskezis looking to pass into half guard but Moore pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Moore is in guard. Pidaraskez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Moore working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Moore throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pidaraskez's body to avoid the submission. Pidaraskez has instead reached around Moore's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pidaraskez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
