Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dean Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russ Rutger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutger has chosen Prince Ital Joe feat. Marky Mark - United as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Dean Stevens! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Russ Rutger! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rutger attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Rutger throws a jab but it's blocked by Stevens. Rutger looks for the body kick but Stevens saw that one coming. Stevens uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rutger. Stevens scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Stevens buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Rutger wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Stevens misses the shot to the body. Rutger pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rutger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rutger lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rutger connects with an inside leg kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A shot to the body from Stevens misses and Rutger counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rutger misses with a low kick. Rutger drops his hands momentarily and Stevens takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Stevens is looking to land body kicks. Rutger takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Stevens uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rutger. Stevens lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rutger throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rutger counters with a body kick that stops Stevens in his tracks momentarily. A slapping leg kick lands for Stevens.

A low kick from Stevens is predictable there and Rutger counters with a good low kick that Stevens was not able to check. Rutger moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Rutger tries to keep at a distance but Stevens has taken the fight into the clinch. Rutger is trying to force a seperation but Stevens has the dominant position. Stevens doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Stevens looks to land a body kick but Rutger moved away. Stevens scores with a spinning back kick! Rutger throws a head kick that misses and Stevens makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Rutger really felt that one! Stevens checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Stevens misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rutger.

Stevens bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rutger's head backwards. Stevens changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stevens fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rutger looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Stevens throws a head kick that misses. Stevens avoids the head kick by Rutger.

Stevens moves into range and clinches up with Rutger. Rutger tries to work over Stevens's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A head punch on the inside from Stevens fails to land. Rutger leaning against his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Stevens doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Dean Stevens dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rutger slips under a jab. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stevens. Stevens slips a jab from Rutger. Stevens throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Stevens tries to land a leg kick but Rutger saw it coming and moves away.

Stevens throws a leg kick that is checked and Rutger cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! Stevens checks the leg kick nicely there.
Stevens takes a swing at Rutger's ribcage but misses. Rutger tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Rutger moves out of range as Stevens strikes. Rutger moves out of range as Stevens throws a body kick.
Stevens slips a jab from Rutger. Rutger ducks right into an uppercut from Stevens. Rutger throws a low kick but it's checked well by Stevens. Rutger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A jab from Stevens finds it's way through Rutger's defenses. Stevens misses with a low kick. Dean Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stevens takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Stevens lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Rutger connects with a body shot. Stevens throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stevens gets the takedown into side control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Stevens misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stevens throwing strikes but Rutger manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Stevens manages to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutger working over Stevens with some ground and pound. Stevens looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stevens gets back to full guard.
Rutger is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Stevens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Stevens can't keep his opponent in guard - Rutger advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Rutger keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Stevens throws a lazy body kick and Rutger makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Rutger goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Rutger throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Stevens is looking to wear down Rutger with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Stevens cracks a nice hook into Rutger's ribs. Stevens takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Stevens slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Stevens throws a leg kick but Rutger checks it. Rutger just misses with a punch to the body.

Rutger gets caught napping as Stevens dives in and scores a takedown. Rutger manages to retain guard. Stevens throws a big right hand that misses. Stevens postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rutger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Stevens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rutger has his foot on Stevens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stevens works his way back into a safe position though. Stevens throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rutger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rutger perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Stevens is trying to control but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dean Stevens. Stevens throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Dean Stevens will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Rutger slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Stevens throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rutger escapes and throws Stevens's legs to the side, diving into side control! Russ Rutger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stevens wants to control but Rutger postures up. Dean Stevens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
